Every teacher knows the one important thing pupils must achieve at the end of every school lesson.  As a teacher at some point in my career, I understand the objective of any topic to my students.   In this post, I am not talking about students or objectives, but rather about goal setting and the main reasons why you should embrace it.

Your goal motivates you each day you wake up. Imagine how much a person can achieve in life without a proper aim for that day. It is like not having any plan and that’s already planning to fail.

Having a goal is important to overcome setbacks in life. You know that challenges are great discouragement to achieving anything significant in life. And the best way to avoid it to is set a goal.

You can see goal setting like your dream and you are aware as what happens when you sleep at night without having dreams.  Let me ask you this question, what is your dream in life?   Your goal is important to reach that height you want in life.

You know how essential your personal growth and self-improvement are. These are necessary ingredients to reach your potentials that will lead to your success. When you set specific goal, be sure to quicken your success journey.

It is important to realise the need for goal setting as your continue your journey of life. You don’t need to view it as a lazy activity. This is the reason you require determination in your Goal growth. No matter how difficult things are. You continue to move forward and not looking back until you achieve your aim. Determined people are not afraid to do those little things that walk them closer to achievement.

Growing up, I didn’t understand what setting goals look like and therefore didn’t set any. When I looked back now I regretted not starting it earlier. So, you don’t need to wait until it becomes late before you start having your goals down. This is because it walks you through the right direction.

Having the right direction means that with your goals you become persistence and committed in that thing you invested your time to achieve no matter the obstacles standing on your way.  Persistence is that assurance you needed to continue doing your work or that project no matter how unpleasant it seems or the opinions of others. At times, when things becomes difficult the possibility to give up grow bigger. Setting goals give you the opportunity to become resilience and undisturbed in the moment of discouragement.

Your ability to plan well show your determination to succeed in whatever you do. You know the important things that matters to you and in which you invest all your energy into. Determined individuals knows the important of good planning and that is the real reasons they are successful in their various professions.

After I recovered from setback through Illness I made a decision of keeping to healthy lifestyle. It means doing away with unhealthy living. Therefore I set goals that would help me realise it. Although at first it wasn’t easy but with determination I kept working towards it. I improved on my health and this is thanks to my goal setting.

You need mindset if you want to see improvement on your goal setting. You shouldn’t   be rigid about your plans for self-improvement. All you need do is to set one goal at a time and make sure you work towards achieving it. Consider what is important to you and then devise means to achieving it. Mindset helps your goal setting agenda, because it requires that you evaluate what works or not. You have the right to be flexible while setting your goals.

Anybody involve in goal setting does so because of the zeal to achieve something noticeable.  That is to say, achievement is usually the motivation why people put so much effort in whatever they do.

Now, here are my 5 main reasons why you should set a goal;

  1. You become a better version of yourself.
  2. You become daring and courageous.
  3. You develop knowledge for personal growth.
  4. You develop determination, persistence and  perseverance
  5. You learn discipline and the abilities to achieve your success.

In conclusion, goal setting becomes the tonic you need for purposeful direction. The more you become intention with it the more you are equipped to work towards your goals.
